SURREY CRICKET

COACH EDUCATION PROGRAMME 2007/2008

Surrey Cricket recognises that Coach Education plays a pivotal role in the overall development of cricket within the county. We will run various courses throughout the winter months to expand and improve our existing coaching base.

ECB Coaching Assistant (UKCC 1)
These courses (15 hours + assessment) will help you to assist more qualified coaches, delivering aspects of coaching sessions, normally under direct supervision. This may include running warm ups / cool downs, small sided games and small group work. The target audience for this course is:

·        Parents helping out at club junior sections

·        Volunteers working in club junior sections

·        Adults assisting club coaches on club junior practice nights

ECB Coach (UKCC 2)
The role of the ECB Coach Award (UKCC 2) holder is to be able to “Prepare for, deliver and review coaching sessions”. This course (24 hours + 10 hours supervised coaching + assessment) will help you to be able to:

  • Introduce and develop the game of cricket to people of all ages in  an enjoyable way
  • Develop FUNdaMENTAL movement skills
  • Develop and improve players (as people as well as cricketers) particularly at FUNdaMENTAL and Learning to Train stages of the LTAD model
  • Develop your coaching skills, knowledge and qualities

The target audience for this course is people with previous experience of playing / coaching cricket. You are not required to hold an ECB level I certificate prior to attending this course.

ECB Head Coach (UKCC 3)
The Head Coach qualification will combine material covered in the previous ECB Level II and ECB Level III qualifications. This course is due to go “live” in November 2006.

For further information on these courses, please visit www.surreycricket.com and click on “Cricket in Surrey” then “Development” then “Coach Education”.
