YOURSELF LIKE THE PROFESSIONALS:

Amateur Cricket
to Benefit from PCA’s MVP System
The Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA), the
representative body for past and present first class cricketers,
has today launched a brand new website, www.mycricketmvp.com,
making their Most Valuable Player (MVP) ratings system available
to schools and clubs worldwide.
The MVP concept was meticulously developed with input from past
and present professional cricketers. The MVP formula delivers a
cumulative points system that rewards every run scored, wicket
taken, and catch held. Unlike any other statistical tool, it
also gives credit for captaincy and to winning teams. It has
proved incredibly popular with the players and is highly
regarded as a true yardstick of performance during a season.
Former England captain, Michael Vaughan, has welcomed this
latest MVP initiative, stating, “In the last two years, the MVP
system has proven an invaluable resource to players,
illustrating a true reflection of a cricketers’ performance
across all competitions and providing far more insight than
averages alone. The new MVP website presents a unique
opportunity for schools and cricket clubs worldwide to utilise a
system, championed by the pro’s, to identify the key performers
in their side.“
The MVP is run in partnership with the England and Wales Cricket
Board (ECB). Mike Gatting, Managing Director, Cricket
Partnerships, for ECB said, “Mycricketmvp.com will provide the
amateur game with a professional resource, enabling players,
teachers and coaches to analyse the game in greater depth, and
explore options to improve performance as a result.“
The Australian Cricketers’ Association, the New Zealand Cricket
Players Association and the South African Cricketers’
Association have all licensed the MVP system from the PCA
following its successful launch.
PCA Assistant Chief Executive, Jason Ratcliffe, added, “There
has been significant interest since we launched the MVP in 2007,
with a number of requests to use our proven formula.
mycricketmvp.com will now offer schools and clubs a
user-friendly template to create their own MVP table, and churn
out in depth analysis by simply inputting key data from
scorecards."
